Update, of sorts.

Really this is more or less some random information...thought you might (or might not) want to know.

So, my dad broke a rib in his back under his shoulder blade a week ago and this week he had a bone scan  because the doctor thought it might be a pathological fracture. That means a fracture caused by disease (i.e. bone cancer) rather than injury. We are all expecting it to come back normal, but it is frightening to think of the possibilities! We'll find out on Monday.

We have all been blessed by good health so far. There are SO many cases of flu here and considering that I work in a hospital I'd say my risk of at least being exposed to it is pretty high. In fact, I KNOW I've been around people that had it...I work in an ER for goodness sake!

Rosie turned six months old on October 3 and is almost officially mobile. She does a lot of scooting, especially backwards. She gets up on her hands an knees a lot, but hasn't gone forward yet!

Jack continues to challenge us whenever he gets the chance! Enough said.

Lucy is sweet, but she challenges us at times too. She has a lot of fears, but we're working on them. She knows all the letters of the alphabet and their sounds. We are doing preschool at home a couple of days a week and the other day I wrote out some three letter words and we "sounded them out". She caught on real quick and I'm hoping to have her reading by this time next year!

That's about it. Andy and I are good. Andy's doing really great with his artwork. He just got sponsorship for a show out in Redding, PA in the Spring. I'm hoping to go with him and possibly the entire family for a vacation...we'll see.

First, let me apologize for not posting pics. I have a lot of trouble getting them on xanga, so you'll have to check them out of facebook.

Rosie had her two-month check on Monday. She weighs 10 pounds, 2 ounces and is 23 inches long. Her weight is in the 25th percentile, but since she's gaining steadily it's of no concern. Her height is in the 75th percentile, which is pretty typical for my kids.

Lucy is going to VBS in the mornings this week and Arts Camp at night. She is loving it and I can't wait til Friday night at the closing program to see all that she has done. Unfortunately, both closing programs are on Friday night, so we will go to the Arts Camp one because it is at our church and Andy is teaching one of the classes so we obviously need to be there.

We are going to Ohio this weekend and, if the weather cooperates, will go to the beach at Lake Eerie. I'm really hoping for nice weather because I know the kids will have a blast!

Since we aren't taking any major vacations this summer we are trying to do some fun things with the kids. I booked us a room at Wana Waves indoor water park in Shipsewana on the 4th of July. And then, the following two weeks I have them signed up for swimming lessons. Should be fun and hopefully they'll retain what they learn.

And, finally, I go back to work next week. I'm really trying NOT to think about it because it just gets me down and I need to enjoy the little time left that I have off. I really can't complain anyway because I am only working two night shifts a week, plus I should be thankful that we have jobs!

Jewett life update

First, and most importantly, Andy is doing well! He's pretty much recovered 100%! All his blood work came back fine. He doesn't have Hepatits or cancer or anything really and we are so thankful for that! He probably just had a very bad virus or something "toxic" as the doctor put it, got into his system and it's working it's way out. He goes back at the end of June for one more set of labs just to be safe, but we should be in the clear. It was a really scary, frustrating time for me/us. At first, I was just irritated that he couldn't do anything as far as helping me with two toddlers and newborn and all the housework. But then, as things got more serious I became scared that he wasn't going to be around period. I kept thinking and telling God, "I don't want to do this life with out him!" and "our kids haven't had enough time with their daddy.". I know God's plan is perfect, but it's also okay to cry out to him! Needless to say, I'm glad God's plan was to heal him now!

In other news, Rosie slept through the night Monday night! Hooray for eight solid hours of sleep! She didn't do it again last night, but that's okay. I know it will come. She's having a real tough time with her naps. She goes down fine for them, but then wakes up 45 minutes to an hour in. Sometimes she fusses then goes back to sleep and other times she just fusses for the remainder of the nap. For the most part, I have been trying to just leave her in her bed until the nap time is over. If anyone has any other suggestions, let me know.

We have been having a great time with Ang and the kids. I can't believe our time with them is about to come to an end! Jack and Lucy have enjoyed their company. Jack asks every morning where is "friends" are and he asks a lot where Angie is too. Very sweet. I'll probably post some pics on facebook of them all one of these days.

I am officially going to part time employment. I'm very excited, but a little nervous about the finances. I know God will provide! There will just have to be a few adjustments probably. I will be working Thursday and Friday nights and that's it! It will be nice to have that extra day during the week to do things instead of working!

Rosie had her one month (which actually turned out to be 5 weeks) checkup on Monday. She now weighs 8 lbs, 9 oz.! I thought that seemed pretty good. I think that's up at least a pound since she was there three weeks ago. It's funny that Lucy weighed 8 lbs., 6 oz. when she born! So, Rosie's weight is only in the 25th percentile, her head in the 50th and I think they said her height was in the 75th. She still wears newborn clothing and the 0-3 month clothing is still a little big. She is really starting to smile and coo. She has a little bit of a cold right now and so she has been quite needy today! In spite of that, she has actually been sleeping really good at night! Yesterday morning she didn't wake up until 5:45 and this morning she woke up at 5:15. So that means I got almost 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep...almost uninterrupted, no thanks to the stupid night sweats I am STILL having! Those should be going away soon since I started taking progesterone (i.e. birth control :) )

So, Andy has been sick for over two weeks now with a constant low grade fever. He had the allergic reaction to ibuprofen because he was taking it so much due to this fever. We finally got him into the doctor again this week because his fever won't go away and we are finally getting some answers. The doc did some tests in her office and ordered some blood work. The blood work came back abnormal, which sort of answers some questions, but really, just creates more questions at this point. The main thing is that his white blood cell count is elevated and so is his liver function. Tomorrow he is going in for a CT scan of his abdomen and on Wednesday of next week he sees a hematologist/oncologist to discuss the results of everything thus far. Needless to say, we are trying our best not to freak out, but it's not easy. I'm trying so hard to look at the bigger picture and not jump to conclusions and just trust God's perfect plan. We covet your prayers and we'll try to keep you all as informed as possible.
